Before arranging floor removal, use Tallahassee Flooring Contractors Group to request a conversation with an independent provider.
Identify what is coming up
Tell the contractor whether the existing floor is carpet, tile, wood or vinyl, and whether you know what lies beneath it. Photos help planning but do not replace an assessment.
Ask if the quote includes adhesive removal, tack strips, underlayment and trim. A bare removal price may leave work needed for the next floor.
Plan for unknown materials
If the age or composition of existing flooring is uncertain, ask how it will be assessed before disturbance. Do not sand or scrape unfamiliar layers yourself.
A qualified specialist may be needed to identify suspect materials. Keep any testing or specialist work separate and clear in the project scope.
Leave a usable starting point
Confirm debris handling, cleanup and the condition in which the subfloor will be left. Check whether the next installer has accepted that preparation scope.
Set aside furniture access and a route for carrying debris. If rooms stay occupied, discuss a practical sequence and daily handover.
